Spritzgebäck is made from a simple dough and can be dipped in melted chocolate for added sweetness. Great for making with kids since you can get very creative.

Vanillekipferl are light and crumbly cookies that are fun to make. Although originally from Austria, they are enjoyed all over Germany during the holiday season.

German Butter Cookies – known as Butterplätzchen – are another classic. You can cut them into different shapes and decorate them with icing or sprinkles.

Linzer Cookies are colorful and tasty.  Made famous by Austria but also enjoyed in Germany and beyond, they are a classic holiday cookie.

German Spice Cookies known as Pfeffernüsse are full of fragrant spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ground pepper.

While not a cookie per se, these Coconut Macaroons are often enjoyed in Germany during the Christmas time. They are also super easy to make!

Last, but certainly not least, we have German Oatmeal Cookies. Known as Haferplätzchen, they are a simple but delicious cookie.
