HOMEMADE VANILLA PUDDING

Homemade vanilla pudding is a classic, easy-to-make dessert that is (often) universally loved... and better than the store-bought version!

First, pour the milk into a medium-sized pot. Also, add the vanilla extract. If you want to be fancy, you can also use real vanilla beans.

Next, add the egg yolks and powdered sugar to a separate mixing bowl.

Mix the egg yolks and sugar with the beaters of your electric mixer until creamy and light in color.

Next, add the cornstarch and a little bit of milk from the pot. Keep mixing until there are no lumps.

Now we return to the pot with the milk. Bring the milk to a boil while whisking regularly.

Once boiling, remove the pot from the heat. Now pour in the egg mixture while whisking constantly.

Place the pot back on the hot burner and bring the mixture to a simmer so it can thicken. Keep on whisking!

The mixture will thicken noticeably after about a minute. When that happens, remove the pot from heat and pour the pudding into serving bowls.

Place the homemade pudding in the fridge to chill. You can garnish it with fresh fruit and/or whipping cream before serving. Enjoy!
