Sicheniki (Ukrainian Chicken Patties)

How To Make

Recipes from Europe

Sicheniki are a delicious Ukrainian dish with different variations. While some versions are made with fish, in this recipe we’ll be using fresh chicken breasts.

What You'll Need

Chicken Breasts Onion & Garlic Flour & Egg Sour Cream Coriander Salt & White Pepper Frying oil

Start by cutting the chicken breasts into small pieces, about 1/3 thick. Then place them in a mixing bowl.

Add the finely chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, coriander, white pepper, egg, flour, and sour cream.

Use a spoon and mix well until the chicken pieces are evenly coated.

Heat oil in a pan. When it's hot, spoon small oval chicken patties into the pan. Fry over medium heat for about 4 minutes.

Then gently flip them to the other side, cover the pan with a lid and fry for another 3-4 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked through.

Transfer the cooked sicheniki to a plate lined with paper towel to absorb the excess oil.

Serve the sicheniki warm. You can sprinkle them with chopped fresh herbs or green onions before serving. Enjoy!
