Cabbage and Noodles is a simple dish that is very popular in many Central and Eastern European countries. Here's one version how to make this easy comfort dish.
White Cabbage Onion Egg Noodles Bacon Fat and/or Oil Salt & Pepper Sugar
In a large pan, heat the oil and bacon fat (optional). Add the onions and sauté for about 5 minutes. You can also add bacon or cut up sausage if you like.
Next, add the cabbage, salt, pepper, and sugar. Cook over medium-high heat for 10-12 minutes until the cabbage is soft and starts to brown.
In the meantime, cook the egg noodles or other pasta in a pot of salted water according to package directions.
Once cooked, strain the noodles and add them to the pot with the cabbage. You can add more oil if you want.
Stir gently until the cabbage and noodles are well mixed. Taste and add more salt and/or pepper if needed.
Serve the cabbage noodles warm. If you want, you can serve them with sour cream on the side. Enjoy!
