Cottage Cheese Donut Holes

How To Make

Recipes from Europe

If you like cottage cheese and donuts, you should try these cottage cheese donut holes known as ponchiki. Tare fluffy on the inside and deep-fried to a perfect crisp on the outside!

What You'll Need

Egg & Granulated Sugar Cottage Cheese Vanilla Extract Flour & Baking Powder Ground Cinnamon Salt Powdered Sugar Oil for frying

In a large bowl, beat the egg and sugar together with a hand mixer or electric mixer until well combined.

Add the cottage cheese. Use an immersion blender (or potato masher) to blend until smooth and creamy.

Next, add the vanilla extract, flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt. Knead well until you have a soft dough.

Dust your work surface with a little flour. Divide the dough into two equal parts and roll each into a long log. Then cut the log into small pieces.

Take the small pieces of dough and form them into round balls by rolling them between the palms of your hands.

Heat oil in a pot. When it's hot, carefully drop the balls into the pot and fry for 4-5 minutes or until golden and puffy. Cook in batches if needed.

Transfer the cooked donuts to a plate lined with paper towels. Allow the donut holes to cool, then dust with powdered sugar. Enjoy!
