If you like strudel, you'l have to try this easy cherry strudel made with frozen (or jarred) cherries and puff pastry. It's a delicious and easy-to-make dessert.

What You'll Need

Sour Cherries Granulated Sugar Corn starch  Water & Walnuts Ground Cinnamon Puff Pastry Egg Yolk Milk Powdered Sugar

First, preheat the oven to 400°F. Add the cherries and sugar to a sauce pan, then bring to boil and cook over medium heat until soft (5-8 min). Stir regularly.

In a small bowl, dissolve corn starch in water. Then add it to the cherry sauce, stirring, and cook for about 30 seconds. Allow to cool and thicken.

Unfold the puff pastry and and roll it out on parchment paper with a rolling pin. Be gentle.

Spoon the cherry filling into the center leaving a 1 inch gap around the left and right sides and more space on top and bottom.

Mix the walnuts and cinnamon in another bowl, then sprinkle this mixture onto the cherries.

Now fold the left and right sides in over top of the cherry filling on each side. The fold the top and bottom onto each other to close it.

Seal the dough with a fork or fingers. Whisk the egg yolk and brush onto the strudel top and sides. Use a knife to score the top.

Bake the cherry strudel at 400 degrees Fahrenheit  for 35-40 minutes until golden brown. Exact time may vary.

Once done, remove form heat, allow to cool, and dust with powdered sugar. Enjoy with ice cream, vanilla sauce, or whipped cream!
