Lazy Cottage  Cheese Dumplings

How To Make

Recipes from Europe

These Cottage Cheese Dumplings - known as Lazy Vareniki - are a popular dish in Ukraine and Russia. They are easy to make and can be enjoyed both sweet or savory!

What You'll Need

Cottage Cheese Sugar Egg Salt All-Purpose Flour Butter Toppings of choice

First, combine the cottage cheese, egg, salt, flour, and sugar to a bowl. Add a bit more flour if the dough is too sticky.

Sprinkle flour on your work surface, then roll the dough into thin logs, about 1 inch in diameter.

Cut the dough at an angle into 1/2 inch pieces (for a nicer look). Repeat these steps for all the dough.

Cook the dumplings in a pot of boiling water with salt and sugar. Cooking time is about 3 minutes - they float once cooked!

Once done, add the dumplings onto a plate and mix in butter. Then top them however you like - sugar, berries, or sour cream. Enjoy!
