German Rum Balls

How To Make

Recipes from Europe

Rum balls are a classic holiday treat. Popular in Germany and lots of other countries, they are full of chocolatey goodness and a bit of rum.

What You'll Need

Chocolate Chips Butter Powdered Sugar Cocoa Powder Rum Chocolate Sprinkles

Start by melting the chocolate chips - either in the microwave, in a hot water bath or in a pot on the stove.

Mix the butter and powdered sugar in a medium-sized mixing bowl until creamy.

Add the cocoa powder, melted chocolate and rum while you continue mixing with your electric mixer.

Once the ingredients are well combined, cover the bowl and put it in the fridge for 1-2 hours.

Scoop out a teaspoon of the chocolate mixture and shape it into a ball using your hands.

Roll the rum ball in chocolate sprinkles or cocoa powder. Then repeat until you have used up all of the mixture.

Store the rum balls in the fridge or freezer if you don't plan on eating them right away. Enjoy!
