This Spanish recipe for spicy garlic shrimp is also known as Gambas al Ajillo. Fresh shrimp is cooked in a delicious garlic sauce, making it a very popular Spanish tapa!

What You'll Need

Raw Shrimp Garlic Cloves Dried Cayenne Peppers Olive Oil Black Pepper White Wine Fresh Parsley

First, peel and devein the shrimp if necessary. Then peel and thinly slice the garlic. Set these aside for now.

In a medium pan, heat olive oil on low heat. Add the shrimp, salt, and pepper and cook until the shrimp start changing color. Stir occasionally.

Add the cayenne peppers and the sliced garlic to the pan. Stir well and cook until  the garlic is golden and fragrant.

Pour in the white wine and stir well. Simmer for 5 minutes until the shrimp are cooked through and the white wine sauce has reduced slightly.

Serve the shrimp immediately with chopped parsley (optional) and some crusty bread to dip in the sauce. Enjoy!
