If you're looking for a filling dish made with mashed potatoes, try this Dutch Boerenkool Stamppot recipe. Easy to make & full of flavor, it's perfect for the colder months!

What You'll Need

Potatoes Kale Thick Bacon Milk Butter Nutmeg Salt & Pepper Smoked Sausage

Bring a pot with water to a boil. Peel and quarter the potatoes, then add them to the pot and cook for about 20 minutes until tender.

Meanwhile, wash the kale, remove the stems and chop into small pieces. Add to a pot with boiling water and cook for 10-15 minutes. Then drain.

Fry the bacon in a frying pan until it is slightly crispy. Then remove the pan from the heat. Don't discard the bacon fat.

Prepare the smoked sausage according to the package directions. Drain the potatoes and add them to a large bowl.

Also add the butter, milk, nutmeg, salt and pepper to the bowl. Mash with a potato masher until smooth.

Now add the bacon bits with the fat as well as the cooked kale to the bowl. Mix with a large spoon until mixed in.

Serve the stamppot with kale warm with slices of the smoked sausage and enjoy!
